T. G Browning and sons were established in 1860 and traded until 1961. The company started in the days of horse and carts, carried removals, coal deliveries and haulage business for people in the Whitstable area. It had two depots, one on the Horsebridge and the other in Canterbury road.
Charlie Walter drove their Palladium in 1925 which originally came from France. This particular Model had a detachable container which could be transferred on to a flat bed railway truck in the goods yard at Oxford Street Station.
Oxford House is the house that Thomas G Browning lived for many years. During the 19th Century "T.G." as he was affectionately known was clerk to the old Whitstable and Seasalter Urban District School, secretary and manager to both the Whitstable Gas and Whitstable Water Companies and the president of the trades association. a forerunner of the present Chambers of Commerce 94
