Vera, like her husband, had worked for the Post Office, probably as a telephonist and perhaps this is where she was to meet her Bert. Information via Audrey Carrick. Michael has rather vague memories of Uncle Bert, but Vera is remembered with affection as a kindly lady having great attachment to her only child, her daughter Muriel, the latter who never married probably due to setting herself to be her Mum's constant and faithful companion. 189
