Death of the Rev William Tritton It is with deep regret that we record the death of the Rev William Tritton, which occurred at the residence of his son, Mr H Tritton, London on Wednesday last. As our readers are doubtless aware, the deceased gentleman was for nearly thirty years one of the Pastors of the Congregational Chapels in this town, having preached his first sermon here on 4th July 1854 (sic) in succession to the Rev Russell. Failing health caused the retirement of the Rev Tritton about three years ago, when the Rev W Griffiths, who had laboured with his colleague for considerably over twenty years, also tendered his resignation, and both, on leaving, were the recipients of handsome testimonials at the hands of the Congregations. The deceased gentleman on leaving Yarmouth went to reside in London, and although we have intimated he was in failing health, it was not of such a character as to cause his friends great anxiety. His end was very sudden, and many of his friends in this town will doubtless receive the news of his death both with great sorrow and surprise. The deceased gentleman was about 69 (sic) years of age, leaves a widow and large family to mourn his loss.
