James H Gurney [12920] 131
- Born: Abt 1860, Margate, Kent, England
- Marriage: Ellen [12875]
General Notes:
According to the 1891 Census for Margate, Kent, James was in residence at 3 Hawley Street, Margate, Kent. This residence is shown on the Census form as being Uninhabited'. James' wife, Ellen, and his two daughters and a domestic servant are shown in the Census to be living at 1 Hawley Street - probably next door to No 3 Hawley Street.
The Census also indicates James' as being 31 years old, born at Margate, Kent, and self employed as a Master Fish Poulterer.
The domestic servant in residence with James' family was Fanny Wicks, single and aged 15 years old. She was born at Thromley Forstal, Kent.
There is no direct evidence that James is the son of Alfred Gurney. However, because of the close residential, domestic and occupational arrangements it is assumed that he is either Alfred's son or a close relative. The relationship is to be verified, as is James' middle name which could be Henry.
James married Ellen [12875] [MRIN: 2263]. (Ellen [12875] was born about 1857 in Margate, Kent, England.)
