Occupation: Until the death of her first husband, Samuel, home duties. Thereafter she worked in a number of positions as Cleaner, Shop Assistant and Receptionist.

Sport: Exceptionaly good swimmer and vigoro player.

Comment 1:
Nellie was a very beautiful woman to look at and a beautiful person by nature. In old age, she had a full head of silver, wavy hair, which prompted her youngest son to always refer to her as
The Grey Ghost'.

Comment 2:
Nellie died at precisely 3.10 am on 22 December 1989 in the presence of her second husband, Herbert Steele, and two of her sons Leslie and Arthur. She died of Stroke in the Casualty Section of the Sutherland District Hospital, Caringbah, NSW. She was cremated on 27 December at the Worona Cemetery. Her Ash Casket is interned in Position 36 of Rose Garden 2LL at Woronora.

As a young woman she was very healthy, but in later years suffered from arthritis and blood problems.

(Samuel Leslie May [15144] was born on 11 May 1903 in Broken Hill, New South Wales, Australia, died on 26 Apr 1937 in Western Suburbs Hospital, Enfield, Nsw and was buried in Apr 1937 in Rookwood Cemetery, Rookwood, N.S.W..)
