He was probably named after his father, Samuel and uncle, John Hall.

Marriage:
Married Mary Ann GURNEY at Kooringa, Burra Burra, S.A., on 30 March 1878. The wedding ceremony took place in the home of Thomas and Margaret HALL, and was officiated by the Reverand R. N. CAMPBELL. Witnesses were Frederick GURNEY (Mary Ann's brother) and Margaret HALL (wife of Thomas HALL).

Comment:
Samuel is remembered by some of his grandchildren when the family gathered
at Ina Pearl Delattore's (?) home at Auburn to celebrate Christmas. This was in the early 1930s and he would have been nearly one hundred years old. He was grey haired, bearded, always well dressed in top coat and waistcoat and is remembered as being seated in a comfortable chair (or rocker?).
