Birth Details:
Born on 30 March 1878,
near the Murray Bridge' at Echuca, Victoria. George was the twelth and last child of George (II) James and Caroline May. He was their only child born at Echuca.

Given Names:
Named either after his deceased older brother George (III) Henry or his father George (II) James May.

Education:
He had been formally educated and was a qualified Carpenter - a very good one at that.

Marriage:
Married Nessie Irene Maria Hall in Saint Peter's Church of England Church, Broken Hill, NSW, on 1 April 1901. Officiating Minister was the Rev. B.H. Wheeler. They resided first at Broken Hill, then to Ashfield, Croydon, Burwood and finally Auburn, all in NSW.

Issues:
They had six sons and two daughters - Arthur George James, Samuel Leslie, Herbert Frederick Edward, Pearl Irene , Stanley Stephen Victor, William, Melville Clarence and Margaret Joan.

Occupation: Records indicate that in 1903 he was a Silver Mine Labourer, probably at Broken Hill, NSW. He is recorded as being a Carpenter in 1937 - as his father's formal occupation was Carpenter, it is presumed that young George grew up with a hammer and saw in his hands.

Physical: George was a tall man, and fit and active throughout his life.

Activities: He liked fishing (probably river fishing).

General/Death: George was a disciplined and religious man - as was his mother, father and wife Nessie. He died at his home (assumed) at Auburn in July 1954, and was buried on 18 July in the Anglican Cemetery, Rookwood, NSW - Section 12, Grave No 3510. He is buried in the same plot as his wife Nessie, and beside his second son Samuel Leslie May (Grave No 3509).
